WORLDSPACE(R) Rocks the 'Casbah After Dark'

Subscribers Pump Up the Volume With New July Content

SILVER SPRING, Md., July 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Exclusive artist interviews and performances, new shows, and events abound as WORLDSPACE(R) Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: WRSP), one of the world leaders in satellite-based digital radio services, continues to delight subscribers with the addition of new, innovative content in July.

The good vibrations begin on WORLDSPACE's international pop channel, UPop (channel 29), which is featuring a new show, "Casbah After Dark." Hosted by the legendary Miles Copeland, former manager of the Police, Sting, and many others, this show provides listeners with an exciting fusion of Middle Eastern and Western music. The hits keep coming on UPop when Katie Melua, Europe's biggest selling female artist for the past two years, performs live at B.B. King's Blues Club in New York City. UPop's Ted Kelly will host this global broadcast on WORLDSPACE around the world and in the United States on XM. It will be the start of a month-long celebration of Melua's latest album Piece by Piece.

"At WORLDSPACE we place a premium on providing leading-edge content to our subscriber base," said William Sabatini, vice president, programming, WORLDSPACE. "These recent content developments further demonstrate our commitment not only to understanding what our customers are looking for but exceeding their content demands and continually raising the bar in the satellite radio industry for innovative programming."

From UPop to The Hop (channel 178) to Spin (channel 44), the entertainment never stops. Dan Aykroyd has joined the star-studded lineup of celebrity hosts on the House of Blues Radio Hour, which will air weekly on The Hop, the channel featuring all the greatest hits from the 50's and 60's and on Spin, the channel of the best international hits.

WORLDSPACE is also partnering with the African music festival, "Nuits de Afrique de Montreal," from July 13-23 to bring WorldZone (channel 100) listeners artist interviews and performances direct from the event. WORLDSPACE delivers global subscribers the latest tunes, trends and information from around the world and around the corner.
