WORLDSPACE® GOES LIVE IN CHANDIGARH

Company Completes Ninth of 10 Planned 2005 Major Indian Metro Launches

SILVER SPRING, Md., Dec. 5, 2005-- WorldSpace Satellite Radio, (Nasdaq: WRSP), one of the world leaders in satellite-based digital radio services, today announced the launch of subscription service in Chandigarh, the capital of India’s Punjab state.  Chandigarh has a rapidly growing, highly literate urban population, which makes it an ideal target for WorldSpace expansion.  Chandigarh boasts a population of just under one million according to the 2001 census.

Chandigarh is strategic to WorldSpace’s long-term business plans and represents the ninth of 10 major India metro launches planned by the company in 2005.  To ensure that the service is readily accessible to subscribers, WorldSpace receivers are available in 39 retail outlets across Chandigarh, with an estimated 45 outlets offering devices by year end.

"Making the WorldSpace experience accessible across India is a primary business objective," said Noah Samara, chairman and CEO, WorldSpace. "We are excited that, with the Chandigarh launch, the WorldSpace experience is now available in nearly every corner of India and is delivering an unmatched variety of local, national and global content to subscribers across the country."

What clearly distinguishes WorldSpace Satellite Radio from any other offerings in India is its wide variety of audio content. With more than 40 radio stations that span a range of musical genres, news, sports and information, WorldSpace offers unsurpassed choice and digital-sound quality to subscribers.
